Annual SEIP Survey: 2018-19
In 2018-19, with the assistance of USC Office of Health Promotion Strategy, Student Equity and Inclusion Programs, launched a pilot survey that was able to assess its services by utilizing NHM indicators around positive sense of belonging, and fair and equitable treatment. For the purpose of the pilot survey the team used “Cultural Centers” in the survey to refer to Asian Pacific American Student Services, Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs, La CASA, the LGBT Resource Center and the Veterans Resource Center.

- Sense of Belonging (2 out of the 5 sense of belonging indicators were used)
- 77.2% Agreed or Strongly Agreed to the following statement: “I feel valued at USC because of the services, support and programs offered by the Cultural Centers”.
- 70.4% Agreed or Strongly Agreed to the following statement: “I feel I belong at USC because of the services, support and programs offered by the Cultural Centers”.
- Fair and Equitable Treatment

- 90.2% Agreed or Strongly Agreed to the following statement: “I am treated fairly and equitably in the Cultural Center space and at Cultural Center events/programs.

For the purpose of the survey the team used “SEIP” to refer to Asian Pacific American Student Services, Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs, La CASA, the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Student Basic Needs, and the Veterans Resource Center.

For the purpose of the survey the team used “SEIP” to refer to Asian Pacific American Student Services, Center for Black Cultural and Student Affairs, First Generation Plus Success Center, La CASA, the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Student Basic Needs, and the Veterans Resource Center.

Sense of Belonging (4 out of 5 sense of belonging indicators were used)
I feel valued as an individual at USC because of the services, support and programs offered by SEIP: 81.7% (95% Confidence Interval: 77.8 – 85.2%)
I feel I belong at USC because of the services, support and programs offered by SEIP: 80.8% (95% CI: 76.8 – 84.4%)
USC is a place where I am able to perform up to my full potential because of the services, support and programs offered by SEIP: 77.6% (95% CI: 73.4 – 81.4%)
I have found one or more communities or groups where I feel I belong at USC because of the services, support and programs offered by SEIP: 72.4% (95% CI: 67.1 – 77.2%)
Students with a positive sense of belonging at USC (an aggregate metric based on 4 items above) because of the services, support and programs offered by SEIP: 73.5% (95% CI: 69.1 – 77.6%)
